PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME ( review)

STARRING: JACK GYLLENHALL, BEN KINGSLEY, GEMMA ARTERTON,
                      ALFRED MOLINA

Here is a movie which is made for summer vacation especially for teen audience. The movie is based on the video game franchise of prince of Persia.

Story evolves around a magical dagger, which has ability to take the holder of it in the past. The adopted son of king of Persia –Dastan and his two brothers attacks the holy city where he finds that dagger whose safety was responsibility of princess of the holy city. Soon Dastan gets falsely accused of murdering his father, so to prove himself innocent he just runs away from that place with princess. In the journey he finds the power of the Dagger and soon also finds how he was trapped in to his father’s murder. When he came to know that how important the dagger is for the whole humanity he and the princess goes on to save the dagger from the evil people.

This is non-stop action packed ride with so much of sword fight, running, jumping and all those high energy stuff which teen audience will surely love to watch. There is nothing to show how intense actor you are but to show how you can entertain the audience with some excellent visuals and movie makes mark in that with ALL AND ONLY PURE ENTERTAINMENT nothing else.

Jack was good with all his action sequences; Ben Kingsley and Gemma were decent. Alfred was also Ok.

All in all this is for those who loves fantasy movies like THE MUMMY franchise and those who are looking for a good time-pass with some great action. An enjoyable movie without putting pressure on your mind.

KITES : review ( which could't fly)

Well i would say that this time Mr.Hrithik Roshan could not impress the audience. The movie has turned out to be below average to average fare for so many reasons.

In a love story you need the audience to be connected with the movie, the characters but here it fails to connect with the viewer.Even the focus has only kept on two leading characters, the others come and go without any reason.Director could not convince that , even if two people dont know each others language still they can fall in love. sometimes you as audience also feel that both leading actors even if they couldn't understand still pretend to understand. The story line is not new and not so good execution.

Even if the movie is only of 120min i got bored. I don't recommend to watch this mega budget movie.

Shutter Island

Another reunion of martin scorsese and leonardo dicaprio. i would say the movie is not one of the best attempts by martin scorsese given his past legacies like The Departed, The Aviator, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, etc.

Leonardo playing a character of Federal Marshal Teddy Daniels is assigned to a mental asylum for criminally insane in order to investigate the disappearance of an inmate. He however chose to investigate the case because he believes the criminal who killed his wife is locked in the same facility. His partner Chuck Aule played by Mark Ruffalo assists him in the investigation. During the course, Teddy finds out that there is something wrong going on in the mental facility and the inmates are used for clinical experiments.

He vows to blow the lid out of the illegal activities and bring the perpetrators to task. In the process, he has to deal with resistant people working in the facility including the head Dr. Cawley played by Ben Kingsley.

The film gets more complex with each passing second making viewers scratch their heads. Regular hallucinations that teddy has also halt the storyline and are simply disgusting. As the film approaches its climax, teddy starts to doubt everything including his own sanity. The end of the movie tries to bring everything together but by that time its too late and the viewer has made up his mind that this is an average flick. The end also gives an impression that everything that was happening till now was bull shit and we were taken for a ride.

You do see martin's brilliance in flashes but not something that hits your senses. Performances are quite average too. I would say lets not have much expectations even if its a martin scorsese venture and you will find this film just fine.

FIGHT CLUB (1999) (BRAD PITT & EDWARD NORTON)

(IT WOULD BE DEPEND ON TEST OF YOURS FOR MOVIE VIEWING. AND THIS MOVIE IF OF MY TASTE...)

DURING THEIR MEET THEY CAME TO AN IDEA OF CREATING A 'FIGHT CLUB' WHERE SELECTED PEOPLE COME AND FIGHT WITH EACH OTHER WITHOUT ANY REASON. BUT THERE WERE RULES TO FOLLOW.

SOON THEY BECOME MORE POPULAR THAT SO MANY FIGHT CLUBS WERE FORMED ALL OVER COUNTRY. MEANWHILE THEIR ACTIVITIES GOT VERY VIOLENT. TYLER HAD DIFFERENT PLANS WHERE AS NORTON WAS STILL DISASSOCIATED WITH ALL ACTIVITIES. WHEN HE TRIES TO FIND OUT IN DETAIL ABOUT ALL ACTIVITIES HE FINDS TYLER MAKING A PLAN TO BLOW SOME GOVT. BUILDINGS. BUT IT WAS TO LATE HE CANT STOP TYLER BECAUSE THERE WAS SOMETHING VERY STRANGE FACT THAT IS PROVOKING NORTON...AND the rest a viewer need to find out on their own. that is the beauty of this movie.

MOVIE is narrated differently. It needs deep passions. NORTON AND BRAD PITT were superb.
story is not as simple as it is seen.

If Only

the best romantic movie i've ever seen. films like these dont come everyday.

a man (paul nicholls) wakes up one morning after a bad dream in which his girlfriend (jennifer love hewitt) gets killed. but rather being relieved that it was a dream, he finds the situations during the day to be exactly the same as in the dream. fearing that his girlfriend will eventually die at the end of the day, he tries to make this day (the only day he has with his love) the best day in their life.

the scene at the end where paul gifts jennifer a bracelet (custom-made) which has all the unique features of her is mind blowing. you cant stop tears flowing out of your eyes.

performance - wise, paul and jennifer are excellent. paul portrays his fear, anxiety, acceptance & love whereas jennifer's expressions are very normal and natural as she does not know that she is going to die.

at the end, paul dies by shielding jennifer from a car accident. she realizes in the hospital how paul was trying to let her know how much he loved her.

a once in a lifetime movie for die-hard romantics.

Real Time

what to say about this movie. i simply loved it. both the lead characters have done what they were supposed to do. give a natural performance for the audience to relate to.

jay baruchel who plays the part of a compulsive gambler is at his best. his low self esteem, low confidence, a loser image is portrayed very subtly. he shows his frustration at life being not fair to him (rather comically). most of young people feel that way these days. randy quaid plays the character of the person who has been hired to kill jay to perfection. he gives him one hour to live tolerating his senseless actions and behavior.

in the end, he tries to convince jay how good life is and how one is better off without complaining as the situations of other people is far worse than we can imagine. a tragic end follows where randy kills himself rather than jay stating that he had been suffering from tumour leaving some money behind for jay. a great end to a great piece of art.

the film is very simple, real and true. it doesnt try to do too much and holds its story line. i loved this film for its transparency and flow without being overly complex and sentimental. kudos to the director for pulling off the subject in the best possible manner.

IRON MAN 2 - Review

STARRING:  ROBERT DOWNEY Jr.
                      GWYNETH PALTROW
                      DON CHEADLE

MICKEY ROURKE
                     SCARLETT JOHANSSON

Here comes IRON MAN again, the franchise moves ahead with its usual way with lots of heroic stuff from Iron Man.

After so much heroic stuff in Middle East Tony Stark reveals that he is THE IRON MAN. On the other hand government believes that, the suit it self is a weapon and should be hand over to defense department, but Stark denies.

On the other way an OLD ENEMY all the way from Russia (as genius as Stark) decides to take revenge and makes same model of reactor as Stark did with iron man. He brutally hits Stark with his new reactor. On the other hand business rival of stark ‘Hammer’ takes help of this Russian Man to built better model of Iron Man suit to defeat Stark. But things go wrong and lots of stuff moves along way in the movie which creates LITTLE bit confusion for viewers. But at the end things gets settle down.

This time the story moves any way without any clear description of characters. Like how Samuel Jackson comes in to picture suddenly? Stark was this time like a man who is going to die and before he die he wants to do so much. Even though these whole stuff, things ware manageable at the end and movie is enjoyable. But the first part was better than this, that’s for sure.

Performances: R.D.Jr was good not the best. Mickey was best as Bad Guy. Apart from these two, others played their part reasonably.

Action sequences at the end were superb. (action sequences saved movie this time)

If Marvel is hoping come up with 3rd part of this franchise they have to think about strong story line.

Don’t go with to much expectation, you will enjoy it.

I would say ,it is good for weekend.

RATING: 6 OUT 10 (MOSTLY FOR ACTION SEQUENCES)

BADMASH COMPANY – review

To achieve something all you need is a big idea, and here parmeet shethi has got it…

Directed by: Parmeet Shethi

Starring: Shahid Kapoor , Anushka Sharma , Chang , Vir Das and Pavan Malhotra.

Finally after IPL here is the movie with great value of entertainment. Directed By actor turned director Parmmet Shethi who has written the movie also.

The movie evolves around 4 friends who wants make quick money. The time frame of the movie is set in pre-liberalization to post-liberalization (90’s). These four friends has big dreams like every youngster and to achieve those dreams they went for business of their own on slightly different way, Like taking the benefit of loopholes in the system and use of extraordinary mind. DOING ALL THE WRONG THINGS…..RIGHT WAY.

The things gets clicked and their dreams getting bigger. Which on some point of time puts them in to trouble but again the ideas from mind saves them.

The story is heart of the movie which never gets tired or getting slow but keeps on beating. Strong story line with good performances makes things perfect. THE BEST THING OF STORY IS THE WHOLE CONNING STUFF LOOKS BELIEVABLE AND DIGESTABLE. Background score is also good. First time director Permeet Shethi has done wonderful job.

After KAMINEY you will again see fire in the eyes and performance of Shahid Kapoor. Anushka is good with her feminine charm. Chang and Vir are also even partners of this Company.

Those who are fan of OCEAN’S TRIOLOGY will not get disappointed after watching this.( I M ALSO ONE OF THE FAN OF OCEAN’S TRIO)

Worth a viewer’s money…

Once (2007)

what a movie! a very subtle tale showing two main protagonists dealing with their failed love lives as well as trying to make a mark in the world of music. how they start developing feelings for each other but somehow control themselves and go back to their respective partners.

male protagonist is surely gifted in the field of music as you can see him pull off a great performance. the female lead is very good in her character too. the film nicely captures how these two people meet, find common passion for music, get close, record a demo disc to get a record deal & how they part to be with their past partners.

music of course is very good as the male lead performs various tracks on screen. due credit to the director also for extracting great performances and never letting the movie lose its pace or quality.

this film gave me a very nice and satisfying feeling thus being very smooth on your mind and senses.

The Hurt Locker (2009)

well, this movie is definitely worth a watch. based on iraq war, it nicely captures the situations and circumstances a bomb tech deals with. the protagonist (fearless and maverick) displays his affection to his job and how it is the only thing that he loves. he somewhat gets addicted to his job finding adrenaline rush in deadly encounters. some may feel the movie deals with one concept only showing various bomb diffusing situations but the manner in which they are shot is really appreciable. everything seems very authentic and true. the director also provides variety covering situations such as sniper combat, suicide bombers, car bombs & detonators.

apart from very few screen shots where the soldiers deal with their emotional problems, the movie is very rational mostly concentrating on war missions. for me, watching this flick was a nice experience.
