INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS - BY Quentin Tarantino.

DIRECTED BY : QUENTIN TARANTINO
STARRING : BRAD PITT , CHRISTOPH WALTZ , MICHAEL FASSBENDER,
ELI ROTH , DIANE KRUGER , MELANIE LAURENT.

I get to watch to watch this movie today, and what to say except one word EXCELLENT.
I am big admirer of Quentin Tarantino’s way of movie making. He has got great hold on story telling.

The film is divided into 5 chapters 1. Once Upon a TimeIn Nazi Occupied France 1. 2. Inglourious Basterds. 3. German Nights in Paris. 4. Operation Kino. 5. Revenge of the Giant Face

The movie is set during the time of second world-war.In Nazi occupied France, young Jewish refugee Shosanna witnesses the slaughter of her family by Colonel Hans Landa(Christoph Waltz). Narrowly escaping with her life, she plots her revenge several years later when German war hero Fredrick Zoller takes interest in her and arranges a movie premiere at the theater she runs.

On the other hand bunches of American-Jewish soldier are sent to German occupied France to kill the enemies led by the ruthless Lt. Aldo Raine(Brad Pitt). Soon they become famous because of their style of killing and are named ‘BASTERDS’ among Germans.

Now this movie premier got ‘BASTERD’S’ attention as the premier was suppose to attend by top rank officers of Nazi’s along with Hitler. They make a plan to kill all those to end the war. This was the time where the shosanna and the basterd’s plans meets.
This is the plot with lots of twist and turns.

I like the way Tarantino took the story from chapter to chapter. His hold on each character and their characterization. He holds the screenplay from start to end very well.
The entire movie was shot in classic war movie style. There are four languages used in the movie so we see most of the movie screen time with subtitles.

For performance Christopher Walts deserves applause( 10 out of 10). In The very first chapter you will get to know how powerful this character is, just superb. Brad Pitt is also top notch in the character of leader of The Basterds. All the other actors played their part very well.

I would say this is for those who likes war movies and for those who love Tarantino’s movies. Simply superb.

KARTHIK CALLING KARTHIK - Review

Directed by : Vijay Lalwani

This week we have KCK directed by Vijay Lalwani. I would say that slowly Indian directors are daring to touch THRILLER stories. And this one is worth a viewer’s money.

This is a story of Karthik, who I would say is a looser. Nothing is exciting in his life, no friends; even most of the people of his office don’t know him. Whose boss always scolds him. A poor fellow. Somehow on his birthday he gets a call. It was he, himself who called. Here starts exciting journey of Mr.Karthik. What happens next is the thing you need to watch.

Story is really gripping. Last time a good thriller hindi movie I saw was, Johney Gaddar and now this one. Story line does not go off the track for a single time. It successfully holds viewer. The music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy is also good.

As far as performances are concern Mr.Akhtar deserves applause for portraying Karthik very effectively. The body language needed for this character was perfect. Miss.padukone has done good job as Karthik’s love interest. Ram kapoor was also good as a rude boss.
But the movie only belongs to Mr.Akhtar and the Director. As a first time director he has treated the story very well.

A worth watching this weekend. (I may be over rating but I just love Good Thrillers.)
And don’t compare this with any Hollywood flick.

My Name Is KHAN- review

directed by : KARAN JOHAR

The most awaited and marketed and controversial movie has arrived. As there is lots of stuff talked about this movie so I would simply present my view on this movie.

It true that i have never seen SHAH RUKH KHAN this way, probably by far the strogest character portrayed by him is RIZWAN KHAN of this movie. His facial expressions, body language was perfect for this character. He has put his all blood and sweat for his role.he was convincing in a character of a person with some mental disease.KAJOL was good as usual. the more importantly the pair has still the charm alive on screen.

story-line is good and convincing for all kind of audience. music of Shankar-Ehsaan-loy is mesmerizing.KARAN JOHAR has tried something different this time and has succeeded.his old style can be also seen in some sequences but that doesn't harm to movie.

overall a very good movie with some very STRONG MESSAGES and some great performances by lead pair.A delight to watch for all.

THE WOLFMAN- review

STARRING: Benecio DelToro , Anthony Hopkins

Movie featuring some of the best actors like DelToro and Hopkins would have to be something different but here for The Wolfman its nothing new who have seen movies on ‘werewolves’ apart from visuals and sound effects.

This is the story of a men who was called back by his brother’s wife when his brother gets disappear. So he(DelToro) goes back to his town to find his brother but when he reaches he found that his brother is already dead. When inquired, he found that his brother was killed by some kind of monster, a monster who appears under full moon. His father (Hopkins) suggests him to go back to London but he denies and tries to find out the truth.

On his way to find the truth he got bitten by the monster (Werewolf) and he got cursed by werewolf. He finds that he has also become werewolf after bitten by werewolf. This way things goes and at the end he kills the werewolf because of whom he got that curse.

While watching the movie I don’t find the wolfman itself creepy or scary nor there was much bloodbath like other movies on werewolf. DelToro tries very hard to portray the wolfman but I don’t find him up to the mark. Anthony Hopkins was Good as usual.
The director has not created the The Wolfman much scary apart from a few sequences which were good enough to scare the audience. The story itself does not have strong hold.

So apart from a sincere attempt by DelToro and good performance by Hokins movie turns out to be average.

Watch if one has never seen movies on werewolves.

sherlock holmes

folks, the greatest detective world has ever known - sherlock holmes, a character that has scaled our imaginations all these years comes to the screen now. the expectations are high. and the movie deals with them thoroughly. i wont say its the best effort for the holmes character but it doesnt let it down either. robert downey has played the character pretty well. jude law is in his usual flamboyance too. dark treatment imparted by guy ritchie to this movie in order to boost the voodoo element as well as the old england era is appreciable. on top of that, the musical score is by hans zimmer - the person responsible for outstanding pieces in gladiator, pirates of the carribbean, black hawk down. i think, the main area where the movie scores is its pace. there is not a single lull spell providing the audience a lot to think over and imagine.

whether it be the fast camera movement of the chases or the slow motion during fights and explosions, its sits pretty comfortably on the viewer's eye.

the movie will have a sequel as the story is left wide open. this being a nice piece of art, my hopes are much higher for sherlock holmes - 2.

REVIEW- ISHQIYA- raw, rough and bumpy ride.

ISHQIYA- raw, rough and bumpy ride.

Directed by: abhishek chaubey

It seems like vishal bharadwaj and his allies has got excellent grip on rural side of country in their story-telling. The story evolves in the northern part of country where two small town thieves (arshad warasi and naseeruddin shah) are trying to escape from his boss mushtaq after stealing a big amount from him. When they didn’t find any shelter ,they move to an old friend’s village. Instead of friend, they found his widow Krishna      ( vidhya balan).

As the things goes on they both slowly gets attracted towards Krishna who uses her seductive feminine art on them. But when mushtaq catches them and gives a month time to return his money, the trio plans to kidnap a business-man from gorakhpur. But story has lot more to offer than this as it progress.

Ishqiya has the same rawness as we saw in omkara previously; the dialogues are excellent with bucolic touch. Music is as good as it tends to be in vishal bharadwaj movies with superb lyrics by gulzar, specially one song dil to bachcha hai ji .

Story required performances of top notch and The trio has performed their part excellently. naseeruddin shah as wanna be young guy is delight to watch .watching arshad warsi one will feel he is capable of playing more than a side kick of lead actors, he is superb. And above all vidhya balan- the perfect example of Cleopatra of village. She excels in each and every movie. The chemistry of all the three lead actors with each other is very good. Salman shahid and adil husain have performed the negative parts very well.

Director Abhishek chaubey has got good sense of story telling. He has tried to keep the tone of the movie light-hearted .

The movie is raw, rough and full of bumpy rides. Watch it .

RATING : 6.5 OUT OF 10.

zombieland

well, this is very much a children movie. the opening of the movie where every thing is shot in extreme slow motion proves to be a great visual treat. people who watch time warp regularly on discovery will love it. now i come to the ending of the movie - Woody Harrelson inside that rectangular cubicle killing all the zombies coming for him in style is shot aesthetically too.

all in all, an average movie for me but i guess family audience will love it more.
