REVIEW: Zodiac (2007) starring: Robert Downey Jr. & jack Gyllenhaal

Based on true events, this is the story of a serial killer who calls himself zodiac. After committing the crimes, he sends letters to press informing them about the killings and throwing in some puzzles to solve. The events take place in late sixties and seventies.

Here enter our main protagonists, a cartoonist (Jake Gyllenhaal), a crime scribe (Robert Downey Jr) & a Fed (Mark Ruffalo) who try to get this serial killer. The movie revolves around various situations that the killer throws open and how no one is really able to gauge the complete picture.

Performance wise, all the actors have been optimum. The obsession of Jake Gyllenhaal to catch this killer, the humorous as well as adamant attitude of Robert Downey Jr. and the detective skills of Mark Ruffalo entertain you.

Directorial skills of David Fincher can also be seen as in his earlier thrillers such as Fight Club, Seven, Panic Room, etc. The dark feel of the movie scare you but i guess this is what David Fincher does best.

The murder case is still open in United States with no conclusion even after 5 decades. Thus, the movie tries to show the complications and limitations of people and it does succeed in that. A nicely made movie providing valued entertainment.
